The year is off to a roaring start and it is my prayer that as you reflect on 2018 that you have some fond memories and as you look forward to 2019 it will be your most joyful, blessed year yet.
Each year we marvel at what God has done and wonder what the next year will bring. We want to faithfully steward the time we have given despite the many challenges that may lie ahead. Time is easily wasted if we do not manage it well.
Time is an important factor in the legacy we seek to leave and I want to share with you some resources and processes that I have used for a number of years now that have been transformational in how I plan for and live out my year in an intentional and proactive way. I never execute my plans perfectly (and neither will you) but I accomplish a lot more…and a lot more that really matters…by being intentional and following these processes.
Each year in late December I reflect on the year that is ending and evaluate how I’m doing in each area of my life; accomplishments in the past year, unmet goals . . . and why. I also spend time with the Lord asking Him what His vision and plans are for me for the year ahead. It’s actually quite energizing and exciting and really helps me to go into the New Year with intentional focus and goals; not just traditional business or financial goals, but goals in my personal life, family and other relationships, health and spiritual life.
Below are links to my New Year Planning Checklist (this has been customized for me based on my processes and resources I use; but I left it that way so you can see it and customize it with things you want to do or resources you know of that you want to utilize in your process). Also below is my Personal Life Planning Annual Evaluation and Planning Questions template. This is the first tool that I use to reflect on the year coming to an end and planning for the year ahead. I am confident that if you utilized your own version of this process and these tools that your year ahead will be more intentional, more focused (on the things that really matter) and more blessed than if you don’t.
As we go into 2019, remember, a Legacy is something you live out, not just something you leave behind…so Live Out your Legacy in 2019!
