It began the first time I gazed into your eyes. A connection I had not known before. You were mine . . . but I would one day have to let you go. And as I prayed for you, cared for you, taught you, disciplined you, and loved you, my heart prayed over you words only my Spirit fully knew. For moms today whose hearts have been poured out on behalf of your children, who have yearned passionately for their children's well-being, your prayers are not in vain.
A Mom's Prayers are More Than Wishes
"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (Mark 11:24, ESV).
Moms speak over and into their children's lives prayers that are more than desires or vain hopes. God hears a momma's heart and her words shape her children's lives. More than a desire, a mom's prayer ushers her children into the presence of God.
A Mom's Prayers are More Than Words
"Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it" (Proverbs 22:6, NLT).
A mom's prayers that are spoken begin in the heart, fashioned by God's word and will. No words are wasted when they are offered to God. And when moms have directed their children in God's way, their prayers are heard and will bear fruit.
A Mom's Prayers are More Than Worries
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6–7, ESV).
A mom's prayers that are spoken begin in the heart, fashioned by God's word and will. Moms don't pray just because they are worried. Their prayers are fueled by love for their children and God hears their passionate pleas.
A mom's prayers are more than wishes, more than words, and more than worries. Her words help to fashion the direction of her children in this life and for all eternity. Moms, keep persevering in prayer for your children. God hears and sees you. And today, we honor you. Happy Mother's Day!
